Academia Sinica, Taiwan, invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB). The initial appointment is for a period of three years (renewable for a second term), and will also carry the title of Research Fellow.
As the pre-eminent academic institution in Taiwan, Academia Sinica is devoted to basic and applied research in mathematics and physical sciences, life sciences, and humanities and social sciences. IMB, comprising 31 faculty members, conducts fundamental research to advance the understanding of biological processes at the molecular, cellular, and organismal levels. Research at IMB spans diverse and interconnected areas of contemporary biology, integrating molecular, structural, imaging, and systems approaches to investigate complex biological questions. IMB is well funded and equipped with modern research facilities. It maintains a high research standard with an excellent publication record. Interested candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree, with outstanding research accomplishments and demonstrated leadership experience. Besides conducting a vigorous research program, the successful candidate is expected to build on the existing strengths of the institution, develop new research thrusts, promote basic biological sciences and provide intellectual leadership in basic and applied life sciences in Taiwan.
